Welcome to SafeWINE! This project provides a user-friendly way to run Windows applications on your Linux system. SafeWINE is designed specifically for Meadows Linux and uses a special technology called LXC to ensure that applications run smoothly and securely.

To run SafeWINE, you need:

To get started, visit the SafeWINE Releases page to download the application.

Follow these steps to download and install:

  1. Click the โ€œReleasesโ€ link above.
  2. Look for the latest version.
  3. Download the .tar.gz file.
  4. Extract the .tar.gz file to your preferred folder.

If youโ€™re unsure how to extract files, you can usually do this by right-clicking the downloaded file and selecting โ€œExtract Hereโ€ or using the terminal command:

tar -xvzf filename.tar.gz

Replace filename.tar.gz with the actual name of the file you downloaded.

Once extracted, you can run SafeWINE directly from the terminal:

  1. Open a terminal window.
  2. Navigate to the directory where you extracted the files. You can do this by typing:
cd path/to/your/extracted/folder

Replace path/to/your/extracted/folder with the actual path.

  1. Next, start SafeWINE by typing:
./start-safewine.sh

This command runs the application. Following this, you will see a user interface that allows you to select and launch Windows applications.

SafeWINE is built to be user-friendly, even for those who are not technically minded. Hereโ€™s how you can use it:

  1. Select Application: Use the interface to choose the Windows application you want to run.
